How did I get so lucky?!?
Posted on January 28, 2010
The title says it all, how did I get so lucky as to meet my new biz partner, Lindy?!? First, I get to start a career in something that doesn’t even remotely resemble work. In addition, I am blessed with a husband and two (amazing, wonderful, gorgeous, funny, silly, smart, genuine) girls who believe in me and love what I do. Then I meet someone who feels just as passionate about photography as I do, and who ROCKS!! Not only is her talent something to envy, she’s an absolute wonderful person and I just love being around her. I am so excited and grateful to call her my business partner as I start this new adventure in my life. Thank you Lindy!!
We decided we would post and write about each other’s images that are our favorites. I guess I go first :)
Ohhhh I love this image, it speaks of all things magical, all things Child, and I luuuuuuv children. Children are who we ALL started out to be, we were all once pure, innocent, genuine, real. What happened?? I look at this image (of Lindy’s incredible gorgeous daughter, Reese) and feel like this is where it all should begin, that this is what it could still be if we only listen to our inner child.

Heaven. This one makes me think of heaven. Sure, the angel wings tip me in that direction but can you just imagine what she is thinking as she looks out into that gorgeous eternity? It looks like someone is speaking to her… and she’s listening!! Oh and who can resist baby cheeks… I dare you to try.

OK, I’m seeing a trend here… children, the authenticity of children. I’m told that in this photo the two sweeties were told to give each other a kiss. Look at Reese – doing just what a girl should do… she’s checking him out to make sure he’s worth her time. From what I know about this sweet little boy he sure is, and they are indeed good buddies. Again, if we asked two adults to give each other a kiss, just for the sake of giving affection, what would we do? What would you do? Kids are just real, and I love it.

Here is why I love this image… because adults experience emotion, too. Rarely do we let it show, rarely are we really genuine except in front of those we know and love. These folks allowed their love to be photographed and therefore let us all in to see themselves. You don’t have to be getting engaged or married to get amazing photos of you and your spouse/partner, you just have to have the courage to allow yourself to be. Look at the love in her eyes, the total peace. And he takes care of her, you can just tell.

Finally, I picked this awesome-colorful-constantly-moving image because you just can’t stop looking! There is so much to see and it all comes together soooo well. This is one of the many reasons I wanted to partner up with Lindy, because of this exact view that she has of the world. I think I’m a bit more moody, more serious than her… why, no idea but it doesn’t really matter. I’m drawn to that part of her personality and her talent where this view comes out for me and everyone else to enjoy.
