Dandelion Magic
Posted on May 13, 2011
Most of us would admit we have love/hate relationships with dandelions… they make us happy when we see them because summer is near! But then we sigh deeply realizing that we didn’t place enough weed control on the lawn or didn’t do it in time, otherwise we wouldn’t see those little buggers. They make us smile when we see them in empty lots or on a (far away) neighbors lawn, but not when we have to deal with them in our own.
Sometimes I’m driving around and I see an area of grassy land that just takes my breath away… most of you would drive right by that wild patch of growth between the local McDonald’s and the gas station, but for us we slow down and gawk trying to figure out where the light is coming in and where can we park without blocking traffic and getting a ticket so we can stick our kids right there in that spot near the tree and get a quick picture. Is this a place we could photograph a session? Would the parents think we were totally off our rocker if we told them to “meet us on the corner by the deserted laundry mat and lawyers office.”?
Nevertheless when we have a photographic itch we scratch it, when we see something that takes our breath away we catch it… we HAVE to, I can’t explain it more than that.
Here are some shots taken of my sweet baby after picking her up from school… I could not let this field of granny-lions go to waste, even though there was a survey team making plans for “my” gorgeous empty lot nearby.
Enjoy!
