Emersyn – NICU Photography

Wow what a gorgeous Monday to wake up to, we need some sunshine!

Hi everyone!  Today is WLP’s first post on our very own NICU giving.  After the blessing of sweet Baby Milo, who spent the first days of his life in the NICU, we decided we wanted to give back to those precious families who are spending time in hospital rooms rather than at home after the birth of their little ones.   The same day we posted about this giving back I was contacted by a client who wanted precious memories of her baby who was born too early.  Meet Emersyn, born at 26 weeks on February 17th…. there was no way she was  going to wait for her due date, May 13th, to meet her mommy and daddy!!    Emersyn has been doing so well that she’s going home very soon.  Way to go Emersyn!

As always when I photograph someone I want to hear their story, I could listen to folks talk about what makes their world go round for hours!    My heart melts each session, there’s is always something, some nuance of people’s lives that turns me to mush.  I love mush!!  Soon after Sara and Brian found out they’d be greeting sweet Baby Emersyn,  they learned Brian was to be deployed to the Middle East, a blow to any family, especially one expecting a baby very soon.   With Sara and her pregnancy in mind they moved from their home in Dallas to West Des Moines to be near Sara’s family.  Hours after she said goodbye to the father of her child Sara’s water broke, and she was in labor…. her husband hundreds of miles away.     The little lady was born soon after.  Brian was allowed to come home less than 24 hours after he left, so he was by his new family’s side in hours.  Except for the 2 weeks Brian had to serve last month, Sara and Brian have spent all day every day with their daughter, in her tiny little NICU hospital room, near the the tubes and equipment that would save her life.   They have nurtured her, held her, loved her into life.

Sara and Brian plan to go back to Dallas soon after Emersyn is allowed to go home. I have to admit, I will miss her! I spent only 30 minutes with the family but felt a part of their world.  Thankfully I’ve been able to keep up with her on Facebook, she’s so beautiful!!  Good luck to you Sara, Brian, and Emersyn!  What an amazing family you have, so much love to go around… takes my breath away.

Enjoy your day, everyone.  Kiss your loved ones, right now… smooch!
