Urban Boys

Posted on June 15, 2011

Hey Everyone! Its been waaaaay to long since we last posted.  We’ve been crazy busy with vacation and babies and all sorts of “normal life” stuff.

So.  I love sitting down to blog sessions, I can’t believe I’m saying that.  In high school I HATED writing of any kind… in fact twice I paid my younger (and smarter but not funnier) sister to write papers for me! Ack!  So I’m shocked that I love writing about sessions, but I love it.  I love sitting down and talking about how I feel about clients who have become friends and the kids whom I’ve watched grow. I love being a part of their lives that way… so lucky am I…

I’ve photographed these boys before so know their sweet silly faces.  Like most kiddos they aren’t huge fans of having their photos taken but they are nevertheless always cooperative and silly and fun.  Their faces are so animated and genuine, I love that.  I met these boys about 3 years ago during a kindermusic class… my youngest daughter took a class with Brady, the other brother, below.  I remember sitting outside the music room as class went on while Connor’s mom (the younger brother) hung out with her.   Connor was so animated and smiley even then.  And he was so well behaved!!! You just don’t see that often these days, but Connor just enjoyed hanging around the shelves of music with his mom and smiling at all of the other parents waiting for their kiddos.  His eyes are still the same – so friendly and sweet.

I photographed Conner first, about 1 1/2 years ago I think.  My initial thoughts after that session were “whew!! That kid whipped my butt!” And he did… sort of, when he quite clearly expressed he was DONE with this whole photo business by smacking my face when I got to close.  hahaha!  And mom still brought him back a year later for our NILMDTS charity event…. thanks for having faith in me M!.

Then Brady was last year, man I could have hung around with him all day.   In his effort to protest the session (again, so very mild, I think deep down he loved it, they always do…) he was clowning around and just making me laugh.  I could have photographed his different expressions all day long and I still probably wouldn’t have gotten them all.

Last month I had the privilege of photographing the whole family! Yea!!  I’d known Mom for awhile but it was great to finally meet Dad.  He was such a good sport, I love that. He  just went with the flow and was even a bit enthusiastic… not sure if he was bribed with ice cream like the rest of the clan but nevertheless it worked.

Glad to see all of you again! Enjoy!!
