Getting ready to leave the nest…

Look at our Mourning Dove family – they grow so fast!! I can’t believe how big they’ve gotten over the last two weeks – and I always thought my kids grew fast.  I’ve loved having them around – they sit right outside the window next to my desk so when the second of the pair joins the one sitting on the nest I hear them cooing to each other – its one of my favorite sounds of the summer and until now I didn’t know it was the Mourning Dove.

I love this – mama is standing so straight and tall protecting her babies, just like a mama does.  I can relate to her… feeling like a mama bear

when my kids might be in trouble – in this case the trouble being the human with the big black box getting too close to her home. 

 

 

 

Daddy bird sitting on his babies – getting a bit crowded in there but still doable apparently.

 

Holy moly look how they’ve grown in 5 days! I need a picture with Daddy sitting on them (he still does that) to show you how crowded it is!
